1. Basics & Purpose
What is Asymetryx?
Asymetryx is an AI-assisted research platform for value investors, designed to surface low-risk, high-upside stock ideas and help you underwrite each business using proven checklists from legendary investors like Warren Buffett, Mohnish Pabrai, and Peter Lynch.
Is Asymetryx providing investment advice?
No. Asymetryx provides research tools, not investment advice. We offer analytical tools and educational content but not personalized recommendations.
Always do your own research and consult a qualified financial advisor before making investment decisions.
Who is Asymetryx for?
Asymetryx is built for Buffett, Pabrai, and Lynch-style investors rather than day traders. Our platform emphasizes:
- Downside protection over momentum
- Long-term thinking (years, not minutes)
- Structured value-investing frameworks
- Asking “what can go wrong?” before “how much can I make?”
Do I need to create an account to run an analysis?
No! You can run a free stock analysis without logging in. Creating an account unlocks additional features like saving analyses, building watchlists, and accessing your analysis history.
Is a credit card required to start?
No credit card is required. All paid plans start with a 14-day free trial, and you can use the free tier indefinitely without providing payment information.
2. Coverage & Data
Which markets/stocks are covered?
Asymetryx offers 5+ years of financial statements, ratios, and metrics for 10,000+ stocks primarily covering US exchanges (NYSE, NASDAQ). We're continuously expanding coverage to include additional international markets.
What types of data are available?
Comprehensive Fundamentals:
- Income statements, balance sheets, cash flows
- Per-share metrics, margins, growth rates
- Valuation ratios: P/E, P/FCF, EV/EBITDA
Institutional Intelligence:
- Top 20 institutional holders and changes
- Insider buying/selling activity (from SEC Form 4)
- Congressional trading disclosures
SEC Filings & News:
- Real-time access to 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K filings
- Analyst price targets and consensus
- Curated stock-specific news
How often is the data updated?
Financial data is updated daily from our data providers. SEC filings are ingested in near real-time. Price data is updated throughout the trading day with a slight delay (typically 15-20 minutes for free users).
Are prices real-time or delayed?
Stock prices are delayed by approximately 15-20 minutes for free users. Pro and Enterprise subscribers receive more frequent updates. For official real-time quotes, we recommend checking your brokerage platform.
Are ETFs, ADRs, or OTC stocks included?
Our primary focus is on US-listed common stocks. ADRs of major international companies are generally included. ETFs and OTC stocks have limited coverage. We're continuously working to expand our universe of covered securities.
3. Methodology & Verdicts
How does the "Asymmetric / Watch / Pass" verdict get decided?
Asymetryx applies three independent “Superinvestor Lenses” inspired by legendary value investors:
- Dhandho Lens (Mohnish Pabrai): Asymmetric risk/reward
- Lynch Lens (Peter Lynch): Buy what you know
- Buffett Lens (Warren Buffett): Wonderful companies at fair prices
Each lens uses a checklist to evaluate downside protection, business quality, growth potential, and moat durability. The stock is labeled Asymmetric (promising), Watch (needs monitoring), or Pass (doesn't meet criteria), with plain-English reasoning.
What are the key criteria for the Dhandho (Pabrai) Lens?
The Dhandho Lens focuses on:
- Downside protection: Balance sheet strength, cash flow stability
- Business simplicity: Few moving parts, easy to understand
- Asymmetric upside: Limited downside with significant upside potential
Inspired by Mohnish Pabrai's book “The Dhandho Investor” and his focus on “Heads I win, tails I don't lose much.”
What are the criteria for the Lynch Lens?
The Lynch Lens evaluates:
- Story quality: Clear, understandable business model
- Growth potential: Reasonable growth at reasonable price
- Earnings consistency: Numbers must support the narrative
Based on Peter Lynch's approach from “One Up on Wall Street” — invest in what you understand.
What does the Buffett Lens emphasize?
The Buffett Lens emphasizes:
- Moat durability: Brand, switching costs, or structural advantage
- Return on capital: Consistent high ROIC/ROE
- Management quality: Capital allocation track record
- Fair price: Quality business at reasonable valuation
A full breakdown is available for Pro subscribers.
Are lens thresholds customizable?
Currently, lens thresholds use our curated defaults based on each investor's published methodology. Custom threshold adjustments are on our roadmap for future releases! Enterprise users can contact us about custom analysis models.
Do lenses backtest their performance?
We're developing backtesting capabilities to show how lens verdicts would have performed historically. This feature is planned for a future release. Currently, lenses are designed as screening and research tools, not predictive signals.
Can I see the evidence behind each verdict?
Yes! Asymetryx provides plain-language explanations of why each lens says Asymmetric, Watch, or Pass. You can see scored criteria for downside protection, quality, and growth, along with the specific data points driving each assessment.

Why does a metric sometimes show "N/A"?
Metrics may show N/A when:
- The company hasn't reported the required data
- The metric doesn't apply (e.g., P/E for unprofitable companies)
- Historical data isn't available for the calculation period
- The data source hasn't updated yet
We show N/A rather than misleading values to maintain data integrity.
Where can I learn about your methodology?
We offer several resources to understand our methodology:
- Learn Section - First-principles glossary of all metrics
- Our Process - Detailed explanation of how verdicts are generated
